Your New Orthotics

Hi! If you’re seeing this page then you’ve probably just received a new set of orthotics. Whether this is your first pair, or if you’ve had multiple pairs of orthotics in the past, please read the following information to make sure you get the most out of your new orthotics.

Wearing in period for new orthotics…

It’s best to gradually increase the amount of time wearing your orthotics by approximately 30 minutes to one hour each day as they will be producing some considerable changes to your posture.

Your orthotics are adjustable, so please notify the clinic if you have any new aches or pain which persist. We expect slight discomfort during the initial adaptation phase but pain or discomfort should not persist for more than a few days. If things don’t seem quite normal, we can optimise your orthotics to your changing needs with our on-site equipment.

Storage

Keep your orthotics in a cool dry place. They can be damaged with extreme heat and direct sun light exposure, so avoid leaving them in a hot car, or outside in the sun.

Cleaning

To clean them, just wipe them over with warm, soapy water. Towel dry and leave them overnight for use the next day.

Will new orthotics fit in different shoes?

We can adjust your orthotics to fit many different types of shoes. In some instances if might be beneficial to have a dedicated pair for particular shoes. Please ask if you’d like to find out more about this.

Review

Please bring your orthotics to your review appointments. We’ll need your orthotics to check measurements, the accuracy of your prescription and to assess and make any necessary adjustments at these appointments.

Even if you feel fine, your review appointments are essential because of the impact your orthotics are having on your posture.

Guarantee

Your new orthotics have been precisely fabricated according to a carefully considered prescription. They have been specially designed to your needs. I personally guarantee your orthotics to be free of any defect in materials or workmanship for a period of 6 months from date of fitting. Please avoid misuse, damage, or making alterations to them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get another pair/multiple pairs?
Absolutely, your orthotics have been computer-designed, so we can order duplicate pairs for you. We will ensure the first pair are entirely accurate and functioning as prescribed before ordering any 2nd or subsequent pairs. We’ll check the accuracy and function during the first orthotic review.

From what materials are they made?
We use various different polymers based on your personal prescription needs. A computer scanner has usually milled your orthotics out of either polypropylene or a high density EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) foam block. The durable top cover has a material base with antimicrobial and moisture-wicking properties to help inhibit microbial growth.

Will I have to wear these for life?
This depends on your individual circumstance, and we can talk with you about exercises and maintenance care to ensure your feet continue to become stronger.

How long will they last?
In our experience the effective life of an orthotic is somewhere between 12 months and 3 years, however this may change depending on wear and tear, storage and the changing nature of your feet.

Handy Tips

Using a sockette over the orthotics can make them feel more comfortable if you’re not wearing socks.
